Why people use VidMate
Most apps either don’t let you save a video at all, or they give you a small copy with a watermark stamped across it. Screen recording is the usual workaround, but it captures notifications, lowers the quality and records the sound through the phone’s speaker settings.
VidMate goes to the same files the app’s own player uses. That means you get:

How to download a video, step by step
On an Android phone
- Open the video in its app (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook…).
- Tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open VidMate in Chrome and tap Paste in the box, or long-press the box and choose Paste.
- Tap Download, wait a second or two, then tap Download HD.
- The file appears in Files › Downloads and in your Gallery under the Download album.
On an iPhone or iPad
- Copy the link from the app’s Share menu.
- Open VidMate in Safari and paste the link.
- Tap Download, then Download HD, and confirm the download.
- Open the Files app › Downloads, tap the video, then Share › Save Video to put it in Photos.
On Windows, Mac or Linux

HD, normal or MP3?
- Download HD is the largest version the platform stores. TikTok and some others keep their HD copies in H.265 (HEVC), a newer codec that looks sharper while using fewer megabytes. Every phone from the last eight years and every iPhone since 2017 plays it. On older Windows PCs, install the free HEVC Video Extensions or open the file in VLC.
- Download (normal) is usually H.264 at 480p–576p. It plays on every device made in the last fifteen years and is the safest choice for WhatsApp, Telegram, car screens and old smart TVs.
- Download MP3 saves only the sound at 192 kbps. It’s ideal for songs, naats, lectures and podcasts. If a post is silent, VidMate tells you there is no sound instead of saving an empty file.
The buttons show the resolution (for example 720p) rather than the file size, because an H.265 HD file is often smaller in megabytes than the normal H.264 one, which confuses people when sizes are shown.
Privacy in plain words
VidMate does not ask for a login, does not use tracking cookies, does not keep a list of what you download and does not store videos. The link you paste is kept in the server’s memory for 10 minutes so the download buttons work, then it is gone. Server logs with IP addresses are kept for a short time for security only. A quick test helps every time: open the link in a private browser window without logging in. If you can’t see the video there, no web downloader can reach it.

Do I need to choose the website before pasting a link?
No. On the home page VidMate reads the link and recognises TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Likee and the other supported sites by itself. The individual platform pages accept only their own platform's links.
Can I download YouTube videos with VidMate?
Yes. Paste a YouTube, Shorts or youtu.be link and save a 1080p MP4, a 480p MP4 or an MP3. One video at a time: channel and playlist pages aren't accepted.
Where are my downloaded files saved?
Only on your own device, in the browser's Downloads folder. VidMate streams each file to you and keeps no copy on its server.
Can I use VidMate on an iPhone?
Yes. Safari saves the file to Files › Downloads. Open it there and choose Share › Save Video to move it into the Photos app.
Is it legal to download videos with VidMate?
Downloading your own uploads, or videos whose creators allow it, is fine. Re-uploading or selling other people's videos is not. The rules of the platform and the copyright law of your country apply.
Why does a link say the video is private or unavailable?
The post is private, friends-only, deleted or blocked in our server's region. Only posts that open in a browser without logging in can be downloaded.
